Rehab

Wholistic, targeted and progressive

I am sick of seeing athletes get told to rest and not do anything if the have an injury, or worse yet watch them get taken for a ride by a physio seeing someone 5 times in 2 weeks only to put on some tape and give them generic stick figure exercises with no progression.

Athletes are dynamic and depending on what sport you do your body needs to be able to handle what you throw at it. whether it be a footballer playing 2 games in a week or a rower competing in 8 2000m races in a weekend.

I take the diagnosis from a physio after the acute phase (pain generally) has subsided and plan exercises that will

- strengthen weak muscle groups

- address biomechanical inefficiencies

- look at performance thresholds in your sport

- build you up to be back better than before you got injured

There is a lot of grey area between where physios clear an athlete to return to training and the level they need to be at to be safe, perform and confident that their body will not break down again.

You should always work backwards from where you need to be and address the competition demands. An example
